(Amsterdam is so photogenic)
At some point I honestly thought that it was never going to happen. My to-do list was actually growing every time I crossed something off of it and with working(&interning) 46-54 hours per week plus travelling back and forth all the time I was a mess. I couldn't find a room that was not already double the price of my current room, and the amount of paperwork was really sad for the trees! But those days are finally coming to an end! About a week ago I found a room, of which its rent still allows me to buy food (always a plus!), yesterday I went to Amsterdam for my visa appointment and in a couple of days I'll have my Exchange Student Visa in my pocket. I started packing my winter clothes, which made it painfully obvious that I need to buy a much bigger suitcase. I'm not sure how I am ever going to pack for four months (Any tips and tricks are very much welcome!) Of course there are still things that need to be arranged, I need furniture, and need to finalise a lot of things, but at least I have a ticket, I'm allowed to enter the country, I'll have a roof over my head and a very busy class schedule to follow. In other words, this dream is coming true, slowly but steady.
With every day I get more excited but it is also very clear that this is going to be a very challenging period. My closest friends have been in Mexico for about three weeks and I am already dying to see them. My dorm feels very empty and strange without them there. I can't help but tear up when I think about saying goodbye at the airport. (I would like to apologise in advance for the waterworks to anyone who will be in the same plane as me.. I'm not always such a mess, I promise!) But I also know that it will be the most exciting four months ever. Now if you will excuse me, I need to find a bed!
